I have been meaning to get some new pictures of the house to post, but I always talk myself into waiting for the next step, such as waiting til the cabinets are in, then the counters, then the driveway, and on and on.
Well, apparently we need to switch gears and focus on what was supposed to happen next, but instead happened before.
Yesterday, on June 28th, we welcomed Asher Seth Davis to our family. He weighed in at a wopping 5 pounds and 7 ounces, and measured 19 inches in length. Definately in a featherweight division at this point in his life, but actually right on track for his age. He was born 4 weeks and 1 day early (35 weeks and 6 days gestation).
Friday we spent most of the day at the hospital because Amy was having some very frequent contractions, but the sent us home after about 6 hours saying it wasn't time yet. They did say it could be soon...and they were right.
Saturday morning Amy and my mom (Grammy) took Bryant swimming at Black Butte but had to call it a day when Amy started having some hard contractions. I got the call at about 2:00 pm that Amy figured she needed to go to the hospital. She was right. Her water broke shortly after that phone call, and I may have slightly broken the speed limit as we raced on to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at about 2:45 and at 4:15 Asher arrived.
Amy decided she wanted an epidural even though she toughed it out for quite a while but things progressed so quickly that it didn't kick in until about 5 minutes AFTER Asher was born. So she got through the whole thing on her own. She really did an awesome job. Her attitude through the whole procedure was amazing, although she did break a couple of my fingers before all was said and done.
Amy and the baby are both doing great, but my fingers are pretty sore. Seriously. I can't believe this little guy was almost a pound smaller than Bryant, but despite his petite notions, he is doing tremendously. They will keep us an extra day just to observe him a little more, but we are extremely thankful that he didn't need any special care in the neonatal unit.
Big brother Bryant seems to be very doing great with the new arrival, but we'll see how that works when we get home.
He looks a lot like his brother, but has blonde hair.

Oh, i can't WAIT to see him!!!! CONGRATULATIONS! I am so super excited I can hardly contain it! Give baby Asher a big kiss from his Auntie Necia, and I'm sure you should give him one from his Uncle Jeff too. :o)

You're family is beautiful! Congratulations. I hadn't even heard yet that you were expecting again. Could it be? Is the CCHS/CofC rumor mill failing? =)
