Broken Ground

Well, we finally broke ground on our new house. Last week I did the excavating for the foundation, and this week we finished up clearing the trees that were in the way of the driveway.

Today the weather has warmed a bit. It's the first day this week that it has been above zero when we got up. Today it was 1 degree above zero. Not as miserable as it sounds though. The sun has been out, and as long as you stay moving, it was quite comfortable to work in.

I promise not to take pictures of every nail and 2x6 that goes into the new house, but will update occasionally as things progress. So far, the local herd of deer doesn't seem to bothered by the construction. They often hang out on our property, especially in the fall, because there is an apple tree in the back.
By the way, the deer like cheese crackers too.

OMG! What an awesome photo of the deer eating from your hand. I am lucky to even get a photo, let alone get that close! We have tons of herds here in north central Illinois. Great photo.
Most of all, congratulations on the upcoming event, a new baby. How awesome is that???
I had 3 of each, and now am blessed with 15 grands and one more on the way.
